Your Own Internet Radio Station ...It's Affordable

It is now possible for anyone to have their own Internet radio station for the small sum of $29.99 + $10.00 shipping and handling (at the time of this writing anyway). It's called Pirate Radio and it's simple. You just basically go to the Pirate Radio Website, Purchase it and download it. Then just configure it and you're ready to go. You have the option to broadcast at a variety of bit rates from 16 kbps (kilobits per second) to 128 kbps. Needless to say, the higher the bit rate, the better the audio quality. 128 kbps is the same bit rate of most MP3 files, so the quality should be the same. However, if you have a 56k connection, then you obviously can't transmit any faster than 56 kbps. And we all know that even if you have a 56k modem, you don't always have a 56k connection. But for those of you who have a high speed connection, you could use the maximum bit rate of 128 kbps. You're listeners however, won't be able to receive it at the same quality unless they themselves also have a high speed connection.

So the options are as follows: You broadcast at the highest available bit rate of 128 kbps and tell your visitors that you are only available to those with high speed connections or broadcast at a lower bit rate and sacrifice audio quality for the sake of accommodating more potential visitors/listeners. Another thing to take into consideration is the broadcast times. You should have the broadcast times listed on your Website unless you are able to man the PC nonstop or have a 24 hour playlist ready. You can create playlists with this program by the way.

One thing though, your visitors will have to download the Destiny Media Player in order to receive any of the transmissions. This is just over 376 KB  in size so it doesn't take long to download at all. You should inform your visitors of this vital piece of information and should link to it from your site. The Radio Destiny Broadcaster is larger in size and takes a little longer to download. It's 2.13 MB in size to be exact.

Below, you will see pictures of the Radio Destiny Broadcaster on the left and the Destiny Media Player on the right. Fear not, they are not being displayed at their actual sizes. Just click on the images to view them at the actual size.

So not only can you have your music available for download on the Internet but you can have your own Internet radio station where you can broadcast your music or your favorites. You owe it to yourself to at least check it out. Until next time...................
